    Oliver Lee Memorial State Park

    Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge

    The Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge is home to many spicies of birds, amphibians and fish. The park is a popular place for birdwatchers and photographers. To get here from Roswell, take Hwy 285 N until the Pine Lodge Road. Go east for about 9 mi (14.5 km) to the park headquarters.

    This community park has many activities for kids and families to enjoy, including a fishing lake, a carousel, a mini-train ride and animals displayed throughout. Various events are held at this park, like the annual Labor Day concert performed by the Roswell Symphony Orchestra.

    Carlsbad Caverns National Park

    View some of the most amazing caves in the world. The National Park Service has ensured the protection of the caves for visitor viewing. Over five hundred thousand people visit the park annually. The size of the park is over forty six thousand acres. Tours are available of the area.

    Bottomless Lakes State Park

    Bottomless Lakes was the first state park in New Mexico. There are seven small lakes in the the area, but only Lea Lake is open for swimming. Devil's Inkwell is stocked with trout during the winter season for fishing. Acitivities at the park include hiking, swimming fishing, camping, picnicking and scuba diving. To get to the park from Roswell, go east on US 380 for 12 mi (19 km) and then go south on NM 409 for 3 mi(5 km).
